Works are well underway at one of our main build sites: an extension of a farmhouse located in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our holistic approach allowed us to re-design key areas and improve the overall appearance of the house in accordance with its rural setting within the Kent countryside. The property, a blend of old and new, features vernacular materials like brick, Kent peg tiles and locally sourced oak, painting a unique picture of traditional and modern elements, complemented by the proposed open spaces and contemporary large glazed areas.
The design met the client’s brief by adding a new extension to “fill in the gap” in order to provide an open-plan living area and unrestricted access to the garden. The existing layout was also reconfigured to deliver a master bedroom suite that takes in the views to the open countryside and the picturesque surroundings.
Work started at the end of October and continued at an efficient rate throughout winter, unhindered by the weather, under the covered scaffolding system. This allowed us to build in a controlled environment, mindful of both budget and location, and quickly advance to the finishing stages.
