Lime Works

Location: Brabourne, Kent
Architecture: Contemporary one-off design and build

We’ve just finalised the design and build for a new private dwelling in a retreated area of the Kent countryside.

Designed on the footprint of two previous outbuildings, the proposal is divided into two main volumes joined by a glazed link. Strategically placed openings allow for natural light into the bedrooms at key moments of the day, while large glazed areas are used for the living/dining area, capturing the natural environment and lifting the inside-outside barrier by establishing panoramic views of the landscape.

The exterior finishes are in keeping with the building’s modern architectural language, but are mindful of the surroundings: the Siberian larch cladding will age naturally to a grey/silver finish, complementing the standing seam zinc roof.
