Holiday Barn

Location: Pluckley, Kent
Architecture: Oak frame conversion and restoration

This 15m2 holiday/annex is compact and prefect for that get away. The original structure consisted of an oak frame which sat on the soil. The proposed works included the change of use into ancillary accommodation for the main dwelling and to be used as a holiday let. Access to a mezzanine within the pitched roof to the west end of the barn adds additional storage.

The initial works included raising the structure safely onto a new brick plinth 500mm from the existing ground level onto new foundations. The structure was mainly insulated on outside of the existing frame, with the cladding attached through to the structure. Internally all timbers were to be cleaned and repaired as per the engineer’s report.
